Wash yer face...
May is meant to be the month when you jump out of bed and scrub your face in the dew on the grass, right? WRONG. Why would you do that? It's covered in bugs and germs and soil. Instead, jump out of bed and wash your face with this. My little heroes at the Body Shop have brought out this little bad boy - not as abrasive as pure tea tree oil (thanks to healthy does of menthol) but enough tea tree to leave your face feeling as fresh as a daisy.
London Calling
I thoroughly blame this mug for causing me to waste half an hour of my life planning a fantasy trip to London. (Breakfast at the Wolsely, a browse around Fenwicks, tea at the Orangery in Kensington Gardens at a concert at the Albert Hall, incase you're wondering.) Nonetheless, this is an awesome mug and would be a very cool present for all of your Laaaaandaan-loving friends. (insert hint here...)
Time To Go Invisible
I really wish my dog could read. Like, really. Because not only would it be frightfully captivating to have a dog that could understand words and turn pages, it would mean he would stop depositing his saliva-covered tennis ball in my lap. If Rascal could read, I would give him Be Silent or Be Killed by Roger Hunt. This is Roger's absolutely fascinating tale of when he was caught in the middle of the gruesome 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai. He hid himself in his hotel room for 40 hours (without using the minibar, TV or phone) and miraculously, the terrorists never found him, despite the fact that his hotel was being blown up. Amazing story of a non-superhero's survival.
The Greatest Thing on Earth
Mooooooove over peanut butter, there is a new kid on the block. You know those Lotus biscuits in the red wrappers that you get from cafes when you're too poor to actually buy cake? Well, this is a handful of them, crushed up and put in a jar. The label recommends spreading it on toast - I thoroughly recommend eating it directly from the jar with a spoon. Saves on the toast calories...right?
Bring it, colour.
Fi Duncan is a wonderful Scottish designer who hates winter and loves spring. So she took all that love for spring and instead of making a baby with it, she made A LOT of cushions, rugs, throws and sofas. Get rid of your "oh monochrome is just SO in right now" mantra. It is NOT. Just talk to the ladies at Bluebellgray (Fi's company). Meet Betty the cushion who will breathe some bright colour and happiness into your life.
Woah, you are GLOWING!
This is wonder powder that doesn't cost the earth. Hurray! Simultaneously blends colour, a touch of shimmer and a bit of pink. Apply it and make people think that you've either been on holiday (St Bart's in May? Who doesn't?) or that someone has recently swept you off your feet and you are positively GLOWING with excitement. Good way to start a rumour, if you're that kind of girl.
'Glow All Out' face powder by Soap and Glory (also available in Boots).
This one is from Rascal.
Hi, my name is Rascal (or Rascal-Pascal if you're a Smart and feeling silly). I don't like fancy make-up and I most certainly will never read a book because, quite frankly, I'd far rather eat it. When I'm not really interested in what Steph is writing, I like to race around the house and all over the furniture with these tennis balls. Yes, they're not expensive, nor do they have a designer name. But they BOUNCE and ROLL AROUND and I really like to get my teeth into them and rip them apart. Then they don't bounce or roll around - they just kinda sit there. When I'm feeling really cheeky, I'll hide them under a sofa and create a whole load of havoc trying to get them out - just to annoy everyone else. No wonder they say dogs are man's best friend...
