April's Wish List

It's April already!  Utter madness;  I am sure the last time I checked my Breakfast at Tiffany's calendar it was January.  Nonetheless, another month means another wish list for your latest pay packet!

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
This is a lovely book written for people who love reading more than anything, belong to a book group, love Guernsey or anything to do with the war.  Did you know the island was occupied by the Germans during WW2?  No, I didn't either and I have a history degree, so don't feel bad.  But feel bad for Guernsey - they were put through the mill and back by those Nazis.  The story is an account of the occupation, told through letters from the Society's members to an English novelist.  Reading it will inspire you to visit Guernsey (flybe will get you there from Aberdeen) and most likely, start up your own reading group (I hereby challenge you to find a name for your group that betters this one.) The book is funny, heart-breaking at times and beautifully written: perfect for sunny spring evenings or when you need a bit of time out from the real world. Get Your Coat On
This is my 'bring it on, placement' coat.  It's also my 'I wish I lived in the '60s' coat and my 'woah, that's a good coat' coat.  You can insert your own ideas, but this coat should be the forefront of your spring/summer wardrobe this year.  (Although to save embarrassing outfit matches, can you call me before you wear it, please?)  Thank you, H&M.

Mary Berry's Lemon Pavlova
Easter lemon pavlovaIf you weren't one of the thousands of Britons who enjoyed this pudding at some stage over the Easter weekend, then SHAME ON YOU. This pudding makes normal pavlova seem boring - and you thought that could never happen.  Prepare yourself for a super-sweet, super-sticky, super-super(?) pudding.  In fact it's so good, I am now officially removing the 'Easter' in the title, so we all have an excuse to eat it all year round.  Oh to be Mary Berry who doesn't sweat a drop, lose a hair or panic an inch while she's cooking this... Lemon Pavlova recipe.

Good Girl
This is a site for girls.  It's a site for girls who want to be good and Godly singletons, good and Godly wives, good and Godly mothers, good and Godly workers, home-makers, sisters, friends, fiancées, church workers - the list is endless.  Read and comment on blogs, cry and laugh over stories and above all, marvel at how God works in the lives of others in the same way he's working in your's.  (I know some of you can be a little wary about these sites, but trust me, this is a good 'un.) The Good Women Project homepage.
