Peltoniemi Concept Store

Let's just bust your resolution not to spend (more) money on shopping right out of the water. 

On Christmas Eve I discovered Peltoniemi Concept Store (no, I don't know how to say it either), and what a store it is!  Peltoniemi is the only luxury store in Aberdeen which sells high end design from London, Paris, New York and beyond.  Recognise something in the store?  You've probably seen it in Selfridges.

Adorning Peltoniemi's shelves are the most sophisticated home accessories, such as candle holders, table lights and wall art) and the most delicious smelling perfumes and body lotions (not sugary delicious, but heady jasmine, spiced plum and black pepper delicious).  And for those of you who like to adorn your own shelves with sophisticated things, Peltoniemi sells the most beautiful copies of classics that you'll ever see. Hardbacks, ribbons, soft paper - the whole whambam.  (When I went, I picked up a copy of A.A. Milne's original Winnie the Pooh stories in a beautiful red-and-gold bound book, with the original illustrations. I will keep it forever and children will never get their grubby fingers over it.)  In addition to fiction are coffee-table books on perfume, fashion, design and travel, and some very special recipe books.  Word on the street is that Peltoniemi's owner has actually eaten in the restaurants of these great chefs and has met them all in real life.  She does this before buying and selling their books.  How is THAT for business. 

And for the girls (or the boys who buy for the girls), Peltoniemi sells unique fashion accesories and hand-crafted jewellery.  Cutest item on the shelf was a necklace with a pendant engraved 'EWBO' (everything will be okay).  Adorable.

Peltoniemi's products come at the prices you'd expect designer products to come at, but there'll be a handful of inexpensive items to draw you in even more.  The shop is small but sophisticated and the items make excellent gifts for friends, lovers and yourself.  Like style?  Like Peltoniemi.
